PG OO Raiser: Day 1

First day of work on the PG OO Gundam is over now, the head is done and I've started work torso, and I am currently at the painting of the pilot stage.  The head was an amazing build, I really enjoyed it, and surprisingly did not take as long as I had anticipated.  Now I put the seals on the inner head part, if you wanted the led to show through then you wouldn't use them.  The only problem with the led gimmick is that the green light shows through the red crest jewel on the forehead, and makes it not look as good, however that could probably be fixed with some paint and I may go back and do that once I finish the rest of the Gundam

Next Project...PG OO Raiser!

Now that the Age Strike is complete (and you can see it in the picture there), it's time to start another project, and in keeping with what seems to be my patterns, since I just finished a custom build it's time to do a straight build.  And this time it's going to be my Perfect Grade OO Raiser, a Christmas present from my wife last year, this will be my first PG model.  I'm pretty excited about this one, at this point I'm currently planning to just make the OO Gundam itself and then save to O Raiser for later but we'll see how I feel about it once the OO Gundam is compeleted.  Being a PG I'm not sure how long to expect it to take me, but if straight building a MG takes me 2 weeks to a month, then I'm expecting a good month solid here at least.  I've already started the head and hope to get most of the way finished with that tonight.  More to come later...Happy 4th!

HG 1/144 AGE-1 Normal (custom build)

GAT-X205A Age Strike Gundam

Finished this up last night!  It's been an interesting build, redoing the torso and using topcoat for the first time in a spray form, but it turned out pretty well!.  There's some things I'd maybe change but perhaps that's the ambition I need to do this in MG next time!  I will update the progress pics later and here's some poses.  Unfortunately my lighting wasn't at peek time when I took these, look for some better ones later this week!

MG Freedom Gundam

Dug out my old Master Grade Freedom today and posed it a bit, hard to believe for a model released 8 years ago it still stands with current MG's.  My one and only complaint with it remains that it was made before the ver 2.0 was introduced and therefore has the old hands that don't have a peg, which makes it hard to get the model to hold it's weapons.  However, after looking at this model again, I think I'm going to rebuild it someday here soon, and when I do I will add in my own peg system to make it work better.  But I think I'm still going to get a RG Freedom before that since I haven't built one yet.  Maybe someday I can but the Metal Build Freedom....

Project: AGE Strike Gundam UPDATE

Turning the Gundam AGE-1 Normal into a newer version of the Strike Gundam, that is what this project is all about.  The AGE-1 Normal shares a lot of things in common with the Strike, it's standard melee weapons are hidden within it's side-skirts and it also uses different equipment based on different combat situations, it's commonly concidered to also share design features with the RX-78-2 however I think that it's shape more closely resembles the Mk-II.  But focusing on the former, this project will focus on making the AGE-1 Normal into a successor for the Strike.  This will include a new paint scheme for the main body, head, and waist sections.  In addition to using the two wears the AGE-1 already uses (Titus and Spallow), the AGE Strike Gundam will also use the wears of the AGE-2 and AGE-3 gundams.  All but some will be recolored.  For now, the project will be started with just the AGE-1 Normal recolor, next will will see the Spallow equipment added and then the Double Bullet (an AGE-2 wear) will be introduced.  For now, here are some early works images...

If you look closely you can see my HG 1/144 00 Qan(T).

These images are from my second attempt on the body, as you can see the first one is completed sitting in the background.  And yes, that's a roll of toilet paper, I couldn't find anything else to stand the toothpicks on.

More in the days to come!

Here's some of what I did tonight, took the Dremell to the backpack and got rid of that ugly spoiler on the back.  Why Bandai decided that looked good is still beyond me, thankfully, I can remove it.

It's been painted in the new blue now and shall spend the night curing, till tomorrow when it'll get a second coat.

Newest Arrival

Yesterday I received my latest order, this time it's the System Base 1 (a hanger display for 1/1/44 scale models) and the HG 1/144 Gundam Age-1 Spallow (or Sparrow, Bandai can't make up their mind)!  The Spallow is the 3rd part for Project Age Strike.  I hadn't planned on getting it so soon but I needed a new Age-1 body/waste because I wasn't happy with how my first one turned out...  So, later tonight I'll be taking the Dremell to it and beginning it's paint cycle.  The System Base I'm gonna use for all my 1//144 scale kits to display them on while I'm working on them, eventually I'll probably get more so I can line them up, but at $13 a pop...not right now.

Today I got a Package!

Today I recieved a package via UPS, a package that included 4 kits: 1/144 HGUC Nu Gundam, 1/144 HG 00 Seven Sword/G, 1/144 HG Gundam Age-1 Normal, and 1/144 HG Gundam Age-2 Double Bullet.  These 4 kits will be used to make 2 different mobile suits (gotta love kit-bash!)  The 00 and the Nu Gundams are for parts to make my custom Ascalon Gundam, another kit is still required but these were on sale.  The Age-1 Normal and Age-2 Double Bullet are the beginnings of another custom model, in effect I will end up using the Age-1 Normal as the base and it will be compatible with ALL Gundam Age wears.  I would've preferred to start this out with the Age-2 Normal but it was out of stock, so Double Bullet will work for now.  Haven't decided where to begin yet but I'm thinking a preliminary test of the Age Gundam's compatibility is in order first.  But after that I think the Ascalon will be made, since I've already finished it's gun by modifying my existing GN Sword III.  More on this project later...

MG 1/100 00 Gundam/00 Raiser

MG 1/100 00 Gundam/00 Raiser

Been working on this kit off and on for almost a year now...yikes, but here it is, just finished about an hour ago.

MG 1/100 Wing Gundam ver.KA (custom build)

ZGMF-X15A Independence Gundam

more pictures:

These pictures, just taken today, are of my original build of this custom gunpla.  Looking at it up close again just makes me see the need to remake this model all the more, and then turn this one into a battle damaged version.

ZGMF-X15A Independence Gundam (MG Wing Gundam ver.KA custom build)

Here it is, the model I've put the most work into, way back in 2005 I believe is when I made this.  It's mostly the MG Wing Gundam ver.KA, however it has the head of the MG God Gundam and the right side-skirt has been modified with the beam sword off the 1/100 Epyon Gundam.  It's been a long time since I made this and now that the kit has been re-released as well as there being a MG Epyon now, I plan to redo this project.  Even so, this is still my most beloved model.  Gonna break this out of storage here soon and take some knew pics.

VFMS-X15A Indpendence Gundam Kai (MG Wing Gundam custom build)

While not my first custom gundam model I've made, it is one that I like a lot even though it's a simple recolor of the MG Wing Gundam.  This is a unit that is in my fanfic, which I'm in the process of making and posting pages on the Gundam Fanon Wiki; which by the way is an excellent site for creating your own articles about gundam!  More pics another time.

Opening

Ok, so I'm finally getting around to doing this, not that many people will see it I'm sure but hey, what the hell right.  My intent here is to post pictures and things related to gunpla projects that I have done in the past and/or am currently working on.  And here and there I may post news about upcoming things Gundam related (for the most part...)  I've been a fan of Gundam ever since Gundam Wing first aired in the U.S. back in 2000, actually a couple week prior to that I was in Toys R'Us and saw models of the first Wing Gundam and that they were too cool to pass up.  For the last 12 years now (wow really?) I've watched almost every Gundam anime, read some manga, done cosplay at conventions, and spent more money on gunpla than I think I wanna know.  One of my friends and I even went so far as to create our own expanded universe of gundam based on the Gundam SEED timeline.  I've learned a lot about gunpla over the years, and if I ever dig out my first models and post them versus my newer stuff, you can see it.  Anyways, I hope someone will enjoy what they see here and perhaps even take an interest in gunpla themselves!
